Noods Radio Launch Youth Program for Label Management
Are you 18-25? Based in the UK South-West? Interested in running a label? Noods Radio is looking for YOU.
Noods is an independent radio station, broadcasting from Bristol’s Stokes Croft since 2015. It was born from Sunday morning music sessions and is now home to a wide range of UK music legends and young blood innovators.
With support from Youth Music, and public funding from the Arts Council England, Noods are launching a label assistant programme, TEST PRESSING. Two young people will have the opportunity to work closely with the Noods team in the central Bristol office (Covid depending), for one day per week, to release a series of records on the label arm of the station.
Tasks will include commissioning young artists and designers, liaising with engineers, pressing plants and the media, in order to see through the record release from an idea to the shelves. The successful applicant will be trained by a dedicated mentor and have workshops from industry professionals within the Noods community.
The application process will open on December 1st and close on January 17th. The programme itself will run from early March 2021 until the end of October.
Izzy Cross from Noods said: “We recognise the responsibility we have as part of the UK music industry in Bristol and we’re excited to be supporting young people to access a sector which is still unequal and exclusive.”
Omar McCutcheon (AKA Batu), founder of a partner label to the project, Timedance, added: “Noods is a really important community for Bristol and they also offer great opportunities for people starting out in music. We are keen to offer some of our experiences running a label and hopefully offer some inspiration to people looking to do the same!”
Head here to apply. Good luck!
